So we developed our own managment system to give our customers intuitive access to all this wonderfull functionality.

Everyone wants their site on the first page of search engine results. To get it there you have top put yourself in the shoes of your sites visitors, what are they looking for? what words or phrases will they use to get to your site? Have you got all the answers on your site?
A common misconception we continually come across is that the search engines are looking for sites, they're not, they are looking for specific pages that answer a users search criteria.
So it follows that every page should be focused and clearly written. If you have a site with products on, have a page for every product and get everything from the barcode number to the pack shot on there.
Something we keep banging on about is that a well designed site should take these things into consideration, they shouldn't have to be tacked on at the end. A set of agreed keywords and phrases should be part of the initial design of a site, these are assigned to relevant pages as the site is constructed.
Once your site is up and running the site usage stats should be used to develop the site, pay attention to the search words and phrases being used, use them to fine tune the sites content.

Why spend a significant sum of money on having a site designed well and then buy your domain name at the cheapest place you can find? if there is a problem with the hosting of the domain your site disappears. Your email might fail as well as it's all tied into the domain name.
